So, what is porcelain tile?  Porcelain tiles are tiles with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5 percent.  The difference is in the composition and durability of the tile.  The clay used to make porcelain tile is more refined and fired at a much higher temperature than most ceramic tiles.  As a result, porcelain tile is extremely dense and less porous so its more resistant to moisture, stains, and water absorption.  Anywhere you want an excellent performing tile, Porcelain will work.  It works great in kitchens.  It is also a good choice for showers and bathroom walls. Porcelain requires no special cleaners, just water, and a mild detergent.  It is perfect for people who want elegance with very little effort.  Porcelain or ceramic tile surfaces does not attract or hold onto dirt, dust, pollen, or other allergens. Although, small particles land on a ceramic floor they stand out against the surface. Therefore, making it easy to clean. Furthermore, you can just get an old fashion mop and bucket.  You can find out more about the pros and cons of porcelain by going to HomeAdvisor.
Rectified Tile
Rectified tile is a term that is applied to a specialty ceramic or porcelain tile.  Edges are usually precisely cut at the square.  Rectified is a fired tile that has been mechanically cut or ground down to an exact size.    Therefore, you can use a smaller grout line when installing a rectified tile.  It is also exceptionally smooth to the touch along the edges.  Rectified tile is not considered better than other edge treatments.  It is just a different type of treatment giving you a different look.  There are several reasons for wanting rectified tile.  First, small grout lines.  You can go as small as 1/8" grout lines.  Secondly, rectified tiles are usually larger tiles.  And lastly, you do not like cleaning grout.  Smaller lines mean less to clean.
