Kingston Stainmaster Luxury Vinyl Tile is a glue-down product. This 12″ x 24″ tile mimics natural stone. It has an overall thickness of 4 mm with a 12 mil wear layer. So, what is a wear layer? The wear layer helps your floor last longer. Simply put, the top layer is made of clear PVC film and applied to the photographic layers. The wear layer adds an extra boost of durability and extends the life of your vinyl flooring. The thickness of the wear layer is measured in mils, and wear layers are typically 6, 12, or 20 mils thick. As you may have guessed the thicker the wear layer the tougher the flooring will be.
You may love the texture of real hardwood floors, but not the cost and maintenance. Many people are looking for EIR or Embossed in Register flooring. Embossed in Register is a relatively new technology. It is processed the same whether it is embossed and non-embossed. However, during the heating process, the manufacturers use a special plate to integrate into the wear layer. This gives it not only texture but the graining as well.
This is a glue-down installation. Mapei Eco 373 adhesive is great for this application.
