Kemah Gulf Collection Engineered Hardwood by Kentwood provides a unique visual appeal, creating an authentic, rustic feel that makes your space look spacious and extremely stylish. It has a 9/16″ thickness that generally includes a thicker wear layer compared to standard engineered wood, which enhances its longevity and able to withstand wear and tear. The Gulf Collection is inspired by the freedom and expansiveness of nature. In addition, this product is a brushed oak. This features oak planks that are treated with a brushing technique to enhance the natural grain and texture of the wood. This process involves using wire brushes to remove the softer wood fibers, leaving behind a textured surface that accentuates the grain patterns.
So, what is engineered hardwood? Engineered hardwood has multiple layers of plywood or MDF and positions it in different directions. However, the construction of engineered hardwood is different among manufacturers. As a result, each layer is what gives it durable, high-performance quality. Consequently, the layered construction prevents the hardwood from warping and bowing in humid areas. Therefore, the advantage over solid wood is that the construction allows for installation in most homes.
In recent years, indoor air quality has become an increasingly important factor in many home furnishings purchases. It has also long been a factor in how we design and produce Kentwood floors. For many years, we ensured CA 01350 compliance as a minimum production requirement; a few years ago, we chose the even more stringent GREENGUARD Gold to become our house standard. GREENGUARD is a low emissions certification program owned and managed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), one of the largest and most respected product safety organizations in the world. In UL’s words, GREENGUARD Gold certification is “designed to define low-emitting materials suitable for environments where people, particularly children and sensitive adults, spend extended periods of time, in particular schools and healthcare facilities.”
Naturally, GREENGUARD Gold certification is recognized by LEED and other green building products as a qualifying attribute. For further information, visit the UL GreenGuard Gold certification.
