What is laminate?

Laminate flooring consists of four layers. The wear layer, the photographic layer, a core layer, and a backing layer. The wear layer is like the bodyguard of your floor. The thicker the wear layer, the longer the floor will last. The wear layer is typically made of clear aluminum oxide which is applied to the decorative layer of the flooring. The coating can range from a low gloss to a high gloss depending on individual taste.

The decorative layer is what gives the floor its unique color. This provides the floor with beauty and realism through highly detailed photographs. Therefore, it can give laminate the appearance of natural hardwood, ceramic tile, or stone. Next is the core. The core is made from high-density fiberboard. Thus, adding extra structural durability. Last is the back layer which provides a structural barrier that helps with integrity and stability.
